The 2024 Indian Roadmaster Elite has gone on sale in India and considering its astronomical price tag, it is certainly reserved for the few who can afford it. Let’s go over the top five highlights of this good-looking bagger.

Design

The Indian Roadmaster Elite is big, imposing and quite dashing in the way it looks. You can credit that to the large, batwing fairing, the teardrop-shaped fuel tank and the humongous panniers as well as the top box at the back.

What sets the Elite model apart from the standard Roadmaster is the triple-tone paint scheme, with predominantly red colours with dollops of black thrown in to add contrast. The Candy Red colour, as it is officially called, is an ode to the company’s iconic Red paint that was seen on its bikes in 1904.

Other details that stand out are the hand-painted, gold-coloured letterings and 10-spoke, diamond-cut alloy wheels.

Features

The features list on the large motorcycle are massive. You’ve got LED lights with cornering functionality, TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, navigation and Apple Car Play. There’s a 600-watt music system with 12 speakers to belt out your favourite tunes as you cruise down the road.

And what is a very useful feature are the heated and cooled seats as well as the TPMS system. The pannier and top box are remote lockable, adding to the convenience & safety factor.

Engine

Powering this rolling sofa on wheels is a Thunder Stroke 116, air-cooled, V-twin engine. This 1,890cc unit makes 120bhp and 170Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox. The engine is one of the smoothest in the business and there’s enough amount of torque to enable riders to trundle down the road without requiring too many gearshifts.

Hardware

The frame of the bike is suspended by a 46mm telescopic fork and a monoshock with an air adjust system. The bike rides on 19-inch front and 16-inch rear alloy wheels that are shod with Metzeler Cruisetec tyres. Braking duties are taken care of by twin, 300mm discs at the front and a 300mm disc at the rear.

Pricing

The Indian Roadmaster Elite is limited to 350 units worldwide. Given the exclusivity and the high import duties that are levied on CBUs, the bike is priced at a whopping Rs 71.82 lakh, ex-showroom.
