Gandhi Irwin Pact
- Signed on 5-3-1931
- 2nd round table conference was held from September to December 1931
- Marked the end of Civil Disobedience Movement.
- Abdul Gaffar Khan and Mahatma Gandhi were arrested in 1930.
Proposed Conditions in the Pact :
- Participation of INC in Second Round Table Conference
- Withdrawal of all ordinances issued by Govt. of India imposing curbs of activities of INC
- Withdrawal of Prosecutions related to political offences except those involving violence
- Release of prisoners arrested in the Salt March
- Removal of tax on salt, which meant Indians are allowed to produce, trade, and sell salt
Govt. of U.K. agreed to these :
- Withdrawal of ordinances and prosecutions
- Release of political prisoners except those involved in violence
- Permit Peaceful sale of liquor.
- Permit peaceful sale of foreign cloths
- Restore confiscated properties of Satyagrahis
- Permit free collection and manufacture of salt
- Lift ban over congress
