Best time to visit
Kheerganga is accessible all around the year, the best time to visit is in April to May and September to October, the beauty of the place is blooming at this period of time. In summers you will find pleasant climate, clear sky and blooming flowers and in winters you will experience snow which adds to the beauty of the place and gives an amzing view of snow-laden mountains.
How to reach
By Air: Bhuntar airport is the nearest airport, it is 31km away from Kasol.
By Road: Take a bus from Delhi to Bhuntar and from Bhuntar take a bus to Kasol, the distance between Bhuntar to Kasol is 5km.
By Rail: Joginder Nagar railway station is the nearest railway station, it is 145 km away from Kasol.After reaching you can take a cab or take a local bus to reach Barshaini.
Climate
Kheerganga is at an altitude of 2960m, the weather is pleasant in summers and in 13 ℃to 37℃; in summers there are many festivals are celebrated like summer hills festival and electric Mahadev festival and in winters, from October to February the temperature ranges from 3℃ to 10℃ and when its starts snowing the temperature drops to 0℃ to -4℃.
At the time of monsoons, the trek becomes slippery and also there are chances of landslides, after the monsoons, the place look green and smells like heaven.
Difficulty Level
The difficulty level of the trek is easy to moderate and the total distance covered is 12-13km. The path is a mix of gentle and steep climbs, you will find refreshing pit points in between to refresh yourself and fuel you up. It is advisable to begin the trek in the early morning to reach at time, you can carry your own tents or you will find a guest house to spend the night. The view from the top is exhilarating.
Route
There are two routes to reach Kheerganga one is from the right of Barshaini bridge, which will lead to Kalga village, the path is scenic and perfect for beginners.
The second route is left from Barshaini bridge, leading towards Nakhthan Village, the trail is steeper and offering a picturesque view of the valley.
At the top there is a temple of lord shiva and divine hot water spring, the water is said to have healing properties and releasing stress.
