Shimla is really a wonderful place to spend time, enjoy friendship and travel. The capital of Himachal Pradesh is completely settled upon mountains. When you ride through the valleys you enjoy the beauty of nature. The transport of the city is very well managed by traffic police and responsible authorities. Hotels situated in the valleys with resorts give a wonderful place to enjoy holidays.

Roads with sides filled with snowfall between the trees gives a nice scenic beauty. Riding through the city is really very amazing. If you visit the city during winter season you may be lucky to experience snowfall. It happens throughout the year but is heavy during winter season.

Kalka – Shimla Railway Journey

The Kalka – Shimla railway journey is a must experience journey for anyone who visits Shimla. The journey through the valleys, forests, cliffs, tunnels and the natural scenery is something one should never miss.

It’s a two-hour, 40 km journey to the quaint Barog station in Solan district in Himachal Pradesh. The Kalka-Simla Railway is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Trains operate over 880 bridges, over 919 turns and through 102 tunnels. That is the techno-engineering aspect. The slow trundle through the hills and valleys covered with pines, deodars, oaks, willows and blooming rhododendrons is the aesthete’s reward. It creates a mesmerizing feeling for any traveller.

Trekking through the valleys covered with snow is very adventurous. People really enjoy doing that. You should use long gum boots because the snow is very dense and deep. The natural scenic beauty which uncovers when the sun shines through the snow covered forests will surely go down in your heart.

Snowfall is very common in Shimla and also in the valleys uptill Kullu Manali. The highway between these two cities is closed for a few months in a year due to heavy snowfall. The tourism management of the state government is very much aware of the snowfall. They are active and keep working towards safety and comfort of the tourists.

Well keeping the facts apart , snowfall is very beautiful and refreshing like nothing. Usually it happens during the night when weather is very cold. It also happens during the day. Whatever may be the timing but surely its going to be a treat not only for your eyes but a memorable experience.
Driving through the valleys which has curvy roads, sharp ends is not a very easy task. Along with driving licence you need to be familiar with cruising through these roads. Also keep your lane always while driving, go slow through sharp ends and be very practical.
